Product Information
A simple & powerful piece of history & beauty combined. Each necklace is a time piece, made up of a Wartime Issue Rose Gold coloured 22lr Rifle Round and set on a 18" Sterling Silver Snake Chain and Jump Ring - what better way to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE DAY - May 2020.
The story behind the name 'Canary' comes from the women who worked in the munitions factories during WW2. With all the men at war, ladies would make the ammunition - bullet rounds, mines, and bombs. Due to the toxic make up of some of the components, the women would turn yellow. Hence the name, Canary Girls. Sadly many lost their lives while making such dangerous products, so we name this necklace in memory of all the brave Munitionettes.
The rounds used where found recently in Lancashire - in a cellar or attic - and would have possibly been there since the 1940's. One box is stamped '18 May 1942'. The other box is handwritten '30/10/1944'.
Due to the nature and history of this product, we have very limited stock.
These rounds are 78yrs old this year - but are now 'brand new' again, and will hopefully see many more stories along the way.
Each come presented in our signature Double Lined Grey Presentation Box.
